The recession was all over us in 2009, turning the aviation industry deep in the red. Therefore, VZM Management Services is happy its 13^th year in business turned out to be profitable and on target. Compared to 2008 last year was even better.

In 2009 VZM has been very active in the German market, supporting the MRO industry with improving their performances as well with Business Development projects. Also this year it is expected that the German market will take an important role in the VZM activities.

At the end of 2009 VZM also signed a contract to support Windcat Workboats, a market leader providing transport with specially designed utility vessels for the offshore wind farm market. Windcat Workboats is VZM’s largest non-aviation customer.

In June VZM hosted the Diversium Are there any costs left to cut? Senior leaders from airlines, MROs, OEMs, part suppliers and other industry suppliers on what possibilities there still are to reduce costs. Enthusiastic feedback showed this was another successful Diversium.

In September Onno Pietersma, proofed to be the best and won the 11^th VZM Dutch Aviation Open golf tournament. For one year he will be the owner of the Hans Minnee Challenge Trophy.

In March VZM published the 9^th Commercial Aviation & Maintenance Market Outlook discussing three possible scenarios and for each the likely developments for the aviation industry.
